Traction therapy

What is traction therapy?

Traction therapy is a form of decompression therapy that relieves pressure on the vertebrae in the spine. At Rosanna Physio, we use a mechanical traction therapy bed to safely and effectively decompress the pressure on your spine to provide an effective form of relief from pain.

How can traction therapy help me with my back pain?

Traction therapy gently and gradually stretches your spine to take pressure off your compressed vertebrae. This stretching allows the spine to straighten and aids in the body's efforts to heal itself and relieve your pain.  Traction therapy is most commonly used to treat:

  • slipped discs

  • bone spurs

  • degenerative disc disease

  • herniated discs

  • facet disease

  • sciatica

  • foramina stenosis

  • pinched nerves

What are the benefits of traction therapy?

Traction therapy is a non-surgical way to relieve pain and correct problems in the spine.  The results of traction therapy include pain relief, proper spinal alignment, and decompressed joints.  While traction therapy may not be suitable for everyone, it does offer consistent relief for a lot of our clients and is worth discussing further with one of our physiotherapists if you consistently suffer from back pain.
